Attracting visitors to the web site is not that hard but because it is a web store and there is nothing for free there other than the laughs you get by just checking them out sales don't come easily. I don't know how long it took for those rocks to sell millions but I sure hope that http://theturfbyrds.com/ will do the same.
Sales are from word of mouth right now but I am sure once the buzz takes hold sales will start funneling in through the web site. One thing for sure is that I don't want to give up on such a unique market. The Turf Byrd's novelty gifts is a business online.

What Is Business If You Can't Have Fun?
What is business if you can have fun with it? What is an idea if you never move forth? The idea of business has been something to move forward with in my book. That's why The Turf Byrd's are in existence today. It has all been about follow through. Isn't that what business is all about in the first place following through with what you said you are going to do?
Maybe this has taken thirty years for me to come up with the balls to actually follow through on this idea, but that is what I have done after affirming from others this is a worthwhile idea to aspire toward. The Turf Byrd's could may very well be a household name and a favorite for years to come in the novelty industry. Some people say to me stuff like, your going to be a millionaire aren't you? That is just one of saying's I have received from showing off my creation called The Turf Byrd's.
Kids love'em, adults love'em, and even older adults love'em too. I have specific orders for a certain color or one without glasses. One time I had a lady request a Turf Byrd that looks like a lady bug. So I designed and sold a lady bug Turf Byrd for seven dollars. People do buy the strangest crap and I have designed some of the strangest crap on the internet for people to buy. The Turf Byrd's are all about attitude!
One thing for sure is that I would not have gotten this far if it wasn't for all of the support I have received from my family and friends. My confidence at selling crap has swelled to say the least. To be real honest if I can sell crap that makes people smile then I could probably sell someone ocean front property in Arizona. I have been told that before too. It surprises me at some of the stuff I have sold over the years of my life. I believe that it all started when I was a paperboy for the Oregonian and Daily Journal Newspaper routes. I would always be out getting new starts, collecting money, and selling paper tubes. I was one of those paperboy's that won trips to California's Disneyland and San Francisco. I even got my name in the newspaper as paperboy of the year and ate at the Benson Hotel with Bob Packwood and Mark Hatfield. I had no idea how important that really was at the time but being recognized as a paperboy is a really rare thing, let alone being named the paperboy of the year. Free Advertising Brings Visitors To The Turf Byrd's Web Site
I don't know if this free google advertising dollars is all what it is cracked up to be. I do think it is a great way to get some exposure to a web site but are the people that click on the advertisement just clicking to be clicking or are they seriously interested in what The Turf Byrd's offer or any other site offer?
The Turf Byrd's has started a campaign six days ago and since starting the campaign we have had over 115,000 impressions and 149 clicks so far for a total of $65.02 in advertising costs. Since we have gone live we have had over 1200 hits on the site from the stats in the back office.
Craigslist and Backpages are a couple of other advertising sources The Turf Byrd's use to gain the necessary exposure to create sales on the internet. Granted the only sales that have come to The Turf Byrd's are by the way of word of mouth advertising. People do love these creative craptacular cow pie creations. It is only a matter of building enough bridges to The Turf Byrd's web site til the sales start funneling in.
The Turf Byrd's are using every source known to the internet affiliate to generate sales. The Turf Byrd's are what's crappening on the internet and can bring a smile to the most difficult people. Try it. The Turf Byrd's are the latest craze since those rocks.
Have you ever wanted to give someone some crap with a smile? Well now you can. Imagine a Turf Byrd in the teachers lounge or a professional business office. The mirth is endless and will be a conversation around the water cooler for a long time to come. Hey Joe, have you heard about the guy that made a million selling crap with a smile?

One day an autistic kid seen The Turf Byrd's and just had to have one. His face was shining brighter than the moon an a beautifully clear night. And again this guy with cerebral palsy liked them so much that he wanted a special order of an all red one. Probably because of the color he turned from laughing so hard from seeing The Turf Byrd's for the first time. This is just good business.

The Turf Byrd's - PPC Ad Campaign Gets Great Results Overnight
The Turf Byrd's started a PPC Ad campaign with adwords and received great results overnight. One campaign and two ads received over 14,000 impressions and 28 clicks that resulted in $12.56 worth of PPC advertising costs. Granted this was in about a 10 hr period of time.
Keywords are a big factor as well as writing good ad content. I have read that it is wise to have the ad content be relevant to the URL. So the URL should be in the main subject line of the ad as well as one of the two lines beneath the main subject ad line.
Find out what words are identified in the search that are relevant to your ad and use those as your keywords. Make sure that your bid is within your budget. Some keywords can be rather expensive when paying for clicks to your web site. Do your due diligence and use all of the free tools that google has to offer. Make use of the advertising dollars that come in the mail. Every little bit helps and if google is so rich they can give away advertising dollars then I say scoop up on all the free stuff available.
By all means don't let the internet intimidate you from reaching any of your PPC advertising goals. The more stuff that you have out there on the internet the better chances that your business will get seen and used. One thing for sure is that you will never know what you can do until you do it. The thought maybe there but until it is applied it is only just a thought. Action does speak louder than words and knowledge is useless unless it is applied. Responsibility is bigger than it is spelled.

Moving Forward One Step At A Time
The excitement is building here at the Turf Byrd headquarters called home. The web site has a premium look to it and looks pretty manageable with a little help from a friend.
Once the Paypal acct. is all tied in and the content is all loaded in we should be selling these cow pies in no time. UPS stopped by today to make sure it wasn't some kind of joke or they were just doing there job. However the steps are being taken to create this business called The Turf Byrd's.
It makes this business so much more fulfilling when I see the smile that it creates on the faces of people that see these cute cow pies creations. Then there is the family,..and that just feels like good business when the grandchildren like to help out. The real business is in the smile. Laughter has been said to be some of the best medicine that anyone could take or prescribe. Well for seven dollars a Turf Byrd would be a well prescribed visual medication. Unlike most medications The Turf Byrd's are not intended to be digested in any way shape or form. So please just look and laugh, that is all the prescription should read.
Okay maybe there won't be prescribed at the pharmacy but Christmas is coming and so is someone's birthday, retirement, graduation party. These cow pie cuties are for the ones that think they have everything or that are even hard to get a gift for. So who was it that put coal in a sock? The Turf Byrd's are the perfect gift for that perfect someone that you really give a .....well you know what I am talking about.
This has been just a dream up until a few short years ago. After reading a couple of books and helping out with the In-Laws during Tommy's cancer recovery period then the pursuit really came on strong. Now it seems as though the race is on, doors are opening that have never been open in my life before because of these little cow pie cuties. It's is amazing what a little faith will do.
I keep telling myself and practically everyone I know or meet that this is my ticket to The Late Night Show with David Letterman. I joke around with a buddy of mine that he will be sitting in the front row with me up on stage taking part in a conversation with Mr. Letterman geared toward The Turf Byrd's. It may just be part of the dream however dreams do come true.
